On Wednesday 6th October one of Poynton's special Lollipop Ladies visited the Hollies. She gave the children a lesson in crossing the road safely and showed the special clothing she wears to do her very important job.

The shiny yellow coat has special stripes made of material which reflects light in the dark.

There are even special yellow reflective gloves - not just to keep hands warm.

Our Lollipop Lady passed round the gloves so the children could see them properly.

The importance of the Lollipop.

The Lollipop is also made of special materials so it is easy for traffic to see and also reflects light.

The Lollipop Lady brought a smaller uniform for the children to try on.

A helping hand.

The Lollipop Lady showed the children how to cross Hazelbadge Road safely.

Before crossing the children stand back while she looks both ways to make sure there is no traffic.

When safe to cross she moved into the road with her Lollipop and her arms out wide.

Children walk safely across the road .....

..... and back again.
