When I arrived at St Lawrence the children were wearing "Welcome Madam Gerry" and "Long Live Hollies Pre-School" hats and the children sang lots of lively songs to greet me. |
Letters from The Hollies Pre-School were displayed on the wall. |
|
|
DEBBIE YOU ARE BOOOTIFOOOL!" This was Afuwa euphofic comment when I handed her the letter and photos from the Hollies! |
I spent some of the money donated by the Hollies and other friends on this 'hand-washing facility' as it was the one thing that the Schools Inspector, who was at the meeting, had demanded they have.
It cost the equivalent of £15 and means the children can was their hands much more easily now. |

The support that the Hollies Pre-School have given the school was mentioned many times during a meeting and Afuwa and Lawrence showed the parents and officials all the books and other educational materials that both the Hollies and others have helped to purchase. |
We walked to the carpenter to view the bookcase to hold all the new books donated by Hollies Pre-School - I had held baby Abraham the whole time! My arms ached but I was proud to carry him and wanted to make the most of it before I left for the UK.

Once finished it was a good size and had doors to keep the books clean of dust when not in use.
This is the completed bookcase, all made of local wood by the carpenter in Kamuli - very posh - no sign of MDF here! |
The children at St Lawrence draw round their hands to send to the Hollies.

Head Teacher Afuwa and the other teachers draw round their hands to send to Debbie and the other staff at the Hollies. |
The 'Hands of Friendship' all ready for their journey from the children in Kamuli to their friends at the Hollies in Poynton.

The children at the Hollies receive their Hands of Friendship from Uganda! |

ASANTE SANA! THANK YOU VERY MUCH to everyone at the Hollies for your friendship and support over the last seven years.
